Is BlackBerry Storm inferior to BlackBerry Bold?

Every time the word smartphone is mentioned, the first thing that crops into people’s minds is the BlackBerry handsets. This is definitely not surprising having in mind that BlackBerry has for a long time been the only smartphone in the market. Time has definitely chiseled these phones with quite a number of makes being added to the BlackBerry family. Some of the latest entrants into the family are the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry phones like BlackBerry 9900 specs. As expected, these mobile phones caused quite a ripple. It is often quite a challenge to choose between these two models given the fact they are more or less similar. Actually, as much as every subsequent model of Blackberry phone comes with improved features, some of the specifications remain the same or incorporate slight improvements.

There are several similarities between the BlackBerry Storm and Bold. For example, both have HSDPA network, BlackBerry Maps, BlackBerry operating system, Camera, GPS etc. However, there are definite differences between the Storm and the Bold. Some of the most obvious differences relate to the QWERTY keyboard and the Touch screen.

To begin with, you would look at the weight and dimension. The Bold phone weighs 133 grams with 114 x 66 x 14 mm while Storm measures 112 x 62.2 x 14 mm and weighs 155 grams. You could also look at the display that the two phones come with. For Bold phones, their screen has 480x320 pixels while Storm has 360 x 480 pixels with a screen measuring 3.25 inches. Many people would go for Storm as far as the screen is concerned especially having in mind that it also comes with Accelerometer sensor.

One of the biggest considerations when one is buying a mobile phone is the battery. Definitely, you would like to go with the one that goes longest. Between these two, Bold comes as superior to the Storm. Bold comes with a Lithium Ion 1500 mAh Battery which is evidently higher as compared to Storm’s 1400 mAh. However, there are claims that Storm’s battery has better talk time and standby time compared Bold probably due to better management of the battery.

When you have made your pick, you will have to consider the price. Storm comes at about $550 while Bold goes for between $499 and $550. If you have AT&T plan, you definitely could get a BlackBerry 9900 at about $300.

In this multimedia age, you definitely would be considering features like the camera and music. Blackberry has actually never been famous with music lovers mainly due to below-par audio performance. Actually, both of these models have a 3.5 mm audio jack. However, as far as the camera is concerned the Storm comes as superior to the Bold as it comes with 3.15 megapixels camera compared to Bold’ 2 megapixels camera.

The Dangers of Using a Phone while Driving

The world as a whole is changing and the changes that have been noted in the recent past is the availability of internet to many thus opening the world. People now a day have cell phones unlike in the past when you had to be next to your home or office phone that had a long wire attached to it. Despite of the major role that it plays it also has its negative side. This is a word of caution to all those people who are users of the cell phones and also drive. They are advised not to mix the two as they totally do not go along; they cannot be done simultaneously.

The things that are mostly done with the mobile phones are making and receiving calls as well as texting. This however can also be done by the PDA phones that are mostly touch screen phones; they operate with the help of the screen that is hypersensitive to touch. The Tablet is no exceptions in this category as they being types of phone they also pose a great danger to their users who use them while driving.  It is for this reason that different states in the world all over came up with different jurisdiction to help deal with this- the many accidents that are caused by the driver having to use his or her phone while driving.

The functions that the cell phones can too perform are as the using the navigation system for locating places as well as watching a video. However these cause distraction to the driver and pose a great danger to the driver, the passengers as well as the pedestrians. The type of distractions are as the visual distraction whereby the driver will have to lose concentration from the road and face a direction that he or she is not heading to, the cognitive distraction whereby the driver totally loses concentration.

This is mainly because most of the human brains cannot multitask with a lot of ease but rather one will have to outweigh the other and get more concentration an example is when the driver is indulged in a serious phone conversation and loses his concentration. This will mainly depend on the type of the conversation; maybe he has been told that his family is in great danger. Also a type of distraction that is also common is the manual distraction. It is because of the above reasons that great penalties have been put in place in many states for those who shall be found guilty of the offence of driving while using his or her phone.

When Should I Get My Child A Mobile Phone?

When should I get my child a mobile phone? Well, this question is food for thought, because mobile phones have both plus points as well as disadvantages. If a child is bought a mobile phone at a very early stage, he or she may get addicted to text messages and may not be able to divert his concentration into his studies or sports. This is vitally important to keep in mind, plus the additional bill that the parents will have to foot may not help matters.

It is a debateable question as to the ideal age at which a child should be allowed to have a mobile phone and this is because mobile phones have huge advantages as well. A mobile phone will allow parents to keep track of their children whenever they want. Also, they are able to communicate urgent and important messages to their child whenever the need arises.

It is important to remember that the nature of the child has a lot to do with the right time of buying him cell phone. If the child is always interested in wasting his time and not concentrating on tasks at hand, then it might not be a good idea to buy him a cell phone at an early stage, but rather buy him a tablet PC. It would be better to wait for a later stage when it would be more appropriate to buy this child his first cell phone. However, if the child is easy going and obedient, it would be a good idea to buy him a cellophane early on in his life.

However, there are other factors that need to be considered. The child’s school may be located at a distance and it would help if the child is in possession of a cell phone so that the parents can confirm his whereabouts as and when they want. This way, they will always be satisfied that they can talk to him anytime they want, especially if there is some emergency and they need to talk to the child immediately.

At the end of the day, the parents need to weigh the benefits against the disadvantages of handing over a cellular device to a young child and make their decision accordingly. This might not or should not be very difficult, considering the gravity of the situation at hand and the decision should be easy and beneficial for the household.

BlackBerry 9900: Get the Touch of New Expertise

BlackBerry has always provided consumers with the best smart phones in the market. They are best known for spawning mobile phones with QWERTY keyboards. They are great as business phones, because the applications are pretty user friendly. Further, the features are really installed for those who have a busy schedule. Generally, BB phones combine a personal digital assistant with a cellular phone.

They first started on the touch phone bandwagon with the BlackBerry Torch Series. The BlackBerry Torch specifications are pretty impressive for a smart phone. Most are slide phones, with a built in QWERTY keyboard. Although it seemed great in concept, the bulkiness of the phone was not something to look forward to. Feature wise, it combines a great number of features with the upgraded BlackBerry 8 operating system. That was as of August 2010.

A year later, in August 2011, they released their newest addition to the market, the BlackBerry Torch price. Similar to the Torch series, it combined a QWERTY keyboard with a touch screen. However, the difference is that they have retained the original design concept of the original BB phones. This makes them a lot sleeker and easier to carry around than the Torch. It runs on the same BlackBerry 8 operating system. Although it is the latest upgrade, it still won’t be that easy to get the popular applications you want, as most of them are not compatible with this OS. This might put some people off, but if you are someone who is business-minded and career-oriented, this just might be the phone for you. You can be sure that all of your files are secure and that your data is protected. This is one of the benefits of owning a RIM phone, along with superb emailing capabilities.

Overall, the BlackBerry 9900 is a great phone, especially when you consider the 1.2 gigahertz processor. The screen is not bad, either. In fact, the resolution is even better than the Samsung Galaxy S II which has an AMOLED touch screen. This is one of the slimmest BB phones ever to hit the market. While it does pack in some weight at 130 grams, it is well worth it. The sleek design of the handset appeals to most buyers. When you see this phone, you will know it is a BlackBerry phone, just because of its looks. The design is in fact similar to a previous model, the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

The Attractive Features in the BlackBerry Bold 9900

BlackBerry is a name bouncing off the tongue of many a phone lover every now and then. Volumes are spoken about the popular brand, some good some bad but bottom line, BlackBerry is a force to reckon with in the mobile market. The BlackBerry 9900 is by no means a small-time phone. On the contrary, it features very significant advancements in technology over its predecessors like the BlackBerry 9860.

Released very recently, not everyone has been lucky enough to pick up the BlackBerry Bold 9900. However, ardent fans of the brand will be delighted to discover that the phone comes with a newer version of BlackBerry’s operating system. You see, the earlier OS 6, which in itself was actually not bad, didn’t quite realize the phone application dream that its other competitors, the droid and the iOS had brought to reality. While it offered quite a number of decent applications, the operating system lacked the capability to run applications of the same quality as the other two platforms. The OS 7 that is embedded within the phone should offer way more competition to Android and iOS than the OS 6 did.

Laying aside the operating system for a while, the most obvious added feature is the multi-touch touch screen RIM generously added on the phone to complement the all too fabulous BlackBerry keyboard. This takes text messaging by phone to a whole new level, given that the messaging services BlackBerry phones deliver are already fabulous in themselves. The screen also has improved resolution from earlier models, doling out 640 by 480 pixels in resolution. The Bold 9900 is one of RIM’s first phones to have both the touch screen feature and the full QWERTY keypad.

To capture those all-important moments in life RIM upgraded the 5MP camera that was present in predecessors of the Bold 9900. This one comes with the ability to take HD videos at 720p, and this will assuredly be a good thing to BlackBerry fans. Another highlight of this phone is the creativity that went into its design. While the BlackBerry is actually famous for its very slim phones, the Bold 9900 defines slim in a whole new way. At 10.5mm, the slimness of the phone along with its sleek design and black color that coats the phone through and through, the Bold 9900 is also an eye-catcher.

This phone is bound to put smiles on the faces of all BlackBerry fans. This phone is a great effort from the team at RIM.
