A Brief Technical study of the Touch Phones: the basic versions of Smart Phones

The Touch Phones are the basic version of the smart phones. Rather than operating in the old keyboard style that used to feature in the mobile phones, this version have the touch screen facility. The wide screen of the smart phone itself interacts with the user and executes the commands made by the user. This is done by making a few strokes over the active, wide screen. Whenever either finger or an electronically active stick touches the screen, a pulse of electrical signal is transmitted to the operating system. This is in the same way when we pass a command to process by pressing the keys in the keypads.

The smart phone with this salient characteristics, often referred as Touch Screen Phones, operate by various operating systems. The operating system varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. However, the most commonly used operating systems found in the smart phones are Android, Blackberry OS, iOS, Symbian OS, Bada, and Windows Mobile etc. All these operating systems are the derived versions of the Linux. Another interesting part of the smart phones are the Smart Books, which provides one the facility of reading books just the same way while reading the book manually.

Smart phones are typical of the touch screen facility, which is not a common feature for the normal cell phones. Touch screens generally operate in a number of ways. In one form, as example, called the Resistive way, is that the screen is divided into two layers and separated by a narrow gap. When an external substance, like the fingers or a magnetic stick is inserted on the screen, the two layers comes closer to each other and finally touches each other. At the point of their contact, a pulse of electric signal generates, which acts as the command to the operating system. In another type, the capacitance type, the screen is made electron statically charged, and when an external substance touches the screen, there is a variation in the charge density and the variation acts as the electronic signal to the processor. In the latest and most advanced version of the smart phones, there is the latest up gradation of the technology that facilitates touch screen of the smart phone, like the infrared ,optical imaging, acoustic pulse recognition technology etc.
